I have to paint; it isn’t a matter of choice. My paintings intend to engage the viewer in a celebration of light, color, and movement. The structure of the painting is revealed by the movement of light and color over translucent, transparent or reflective surfaces. The subject of my work, whether it be a car, motorcycle, or a piece of glass, is isolated and the scale is exploded to engage the viewer.
I consider myself a contemporary still life painter, where light is captured within shapes and altered by them. More recently, I have been including figures and landscapes within my compositions. As a teacher, I never ask my students to do something I wouldn't do myself and my portfolio contains some of these pieces.
